Al Anstey
Al Anstey is a media executive with extensive experience of leading news organisations, broadcast news start-ups, corporate and digital transformation, and championing editorial excellence. Al's career spans three decades with global media companies.
He was Chief Executive of Al Jazeera America in New York, Managing Director of Al Jazeera English based in Doha, Head of Foreign News at ITV in the UK, and Asia Editor at Associated Press Television News. He started his career with CBS News, and worked for Reuters on the start-up of GMTV breakfast television in the UK.
Throughout his career Al has been involved in transformation in media companies. He was part of the start-up of APTN, was a member of the launch team of Al Jazeera English and was Network Director of Media Development and Head of New Media at Al Jazeera Network. During Al’s tenure at AJE it grew from being a newly launched news channel to gaining a reputation for quality worldwide as a multi-platform news provider, broadcast to over 300 million homes in over 130 countries. Al has lived and worked in the UK, America, Australia, India and Qatar. He has led global teams of over 2,000 staff from all regions of the world.
Since leaving Al Jazeera America in 2016 Al has been Chief Executive of Collingwood Worldwide, advising multiple global companies on media strategy, digital transformation and strategic communications.
